I’m consulting with NRCan right now and voila! I get to check out this coffee shop your blogged about. And OMG… no joke! THE best coffee EVER. And as you can imagine, I really like my coffee. I am so impressed that they went and got training on how to make coffee. The place near my house is lovely, but I never know what I’m going to get (and when you’re paying their prices, you want a good cup of coffee!). At the Morning Owl – it’s always flawless. Sarah makes a mean Australian Flat White. (I also ran home to tell hubby about the Flat White offering … brings back great memories for us!)

awesome article and interview. And love all the photos. The place looks absolutely beautiful!
I think the area needed another smaller-owned coffee shop so this is great news. I love that the coffee is organic and fair trade, I’ll definately be checking this place out next time I’m on Preston. Thanks!

Yup, the coffee is organic and fair trade! Delish.

And, as for the design work, the interior was a DIY job with Sarah bringing it all together. The exterior was done with the help of local architect James Colizza.

For a fair trader and an architect, this place is a win-win all around!

Your shop looks very funky and it’s awesome that you started it in your neighbourhood. One question ~ does the shop serve fair trade and organic beverages and treats? I’m partial to it myself (says the fair trader)

We would also love to know who designed the Morning Owl interior and exterior? The renos look great and its impressive to see nice design in Ottawa (says the architect)
