Courage City

A very courageous friend of mine sent me the following over the weekend.  Her words speak for themselves:

Silence is the root of the problem of violence against womyn, not the solution.  Many of us have hidden memories, traumas and pain that create a burden on our souls.  This Sunday is the 20th Anniversary of the Montreal Massacre at l’École Polytechnique.

Please honor the 14 brave women who died at the hands of Marc Lepine by speaking your truth everyday, and by repeating the following Martin Luther King quote aloud this Sunday: “Our life begins to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Lanterns with name cards are set at the foot of the Women's Monument in Minto Park to honour the victims of the Montreal Massacre. Dozens of supporters, many of them women, came out to Minto Park in Ottawa on Sunday, Dec. 6th, for a vigil in remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the massacre of 14 women at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.
