Meet Chazz

This girlaboutOtown is pretty pleased these days.   

A few weeks back, a co-op student who we’ll call Chazz walked into my life – and wow – have things been going great ever since!  Thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbour and friend, I was fortunate to be connected with a young woman interested in fashion, interior design and writing who also happens to be in the midst of trying to figure out her future!  Lucky me.  A like-minded high-schooler who comes every day to help!   Woo hoo!

Fast forward just a few days, and we found ourselves swapping stories, sipping tea and hunkering down to work on Housters & Co. related-stuff.  From the start, I’ve suspected Chazz has a lot to offer, and I’m looking forward to us both learning as we go.   So, since you might occasionally come across her here, I thought it might be nice to introduce you…

Without further ado, here are a few of her answers to my most probing and personal questions, along with some inspiring images she found to illustrate:

What is your favourite colour?  Purple

Favourite magazine?  Elle

Music you’re into? Michael Jackson, Beatles, MUSE, (give me any CD and I’ll find a song that I like!).

Favourite TV Show? Jersey Shore, Say Yes to the Dress, Project Runway

What about movies?  It changes a lot, but right now it would have to be Splice or The Human Centipede.

Do you have a favourite clothing designer?  I don’t really have a favorite.  I tend to concentrate more on the look of clothing rather than who actually designed them.

What about local Ottawa stores?  Where do  you shop most often? Value Village, you can walk around looking like a million bucks for only twenty.  

(Uhhh.  Hello!?  Do you think we might have something in common here?!)

What about food?  What do you like to eat and where? Any Asian buffet, or McDonald’s is good for me.

What do you like to do?  What are your hobbies?  Drawing and singing.  Here is a bit of my work:

Is there a period in history you relate to style-wise?  The 50′s.  I love the way they dressed!

Show me some shoes you love.  These are Versace. They are ridiculous and out there, but there’s something about them I love. These would probably be my favorite shoes, even though I could never afford them!

Where would you go right now if money and time were no object?  What is your dream vacation?  Greece. My mother and I plan to go there together someday!

So, what about your over the top dream job?  What is the wildest job you can imagine?  Personal Shopper for Lady Gaga!  I would love to see her walking down the red carpet and say: “Yep I picked that outfit out for her”.

Describe your style in terms of fashion: Usually laid back, but I do like to spice my style up on rare occasions, to show people another side of me.

What about your preference with respect to design and décor? Creative and personal.  I like to personalize my area, because I find that in order to feel at home in your living area – or anyone’s living area -  it has to suit you and make you feel comfortable.

Cupcakes or tarts? Cupcakes.  (Ummm.  Another coincidence?  Perhaps.)
Fiction or non-fiction? Non-fiction.
Early bird or night owl?  Night owl.
Coffee or tea?  Definitely tea!
