Ottawa’s Design Guys Add Style to Somerset West

Apparently, there’s a new design destination to discover right here in Otown. I noticed the sleek looking Crawford Alexander Designer Boutique last weekend while out seeking cupcake bliss – but decided to drive on by. Ironically, I arrived home soon after only to find a press release in my inbox, and knew immediately I should have stopped in to see more when I had the chance.

The Crawford Alexander Designer Boutique has moved to 1089 Somerset Street West, a former used appliance depot in Hintonburg Village. It seems that Luc Crawford and Jamie LeBlanc have spent serious effort to upgrade the space, and will offer custom furniture and home accessories in addition to their established interior design services.

Ottawa Cupcake Update

Until now, Ottawa has been devoid of a place to indulge in cupcake decadence – but times may be changing. Online baking entrepreneurs Julie and Elizabeth of The Ottawa Cupcakery have dropped me a line to share in their latest news. It seems these two smart cookies have stirred up a sweet deal with Diane, owner of the recently opened Westboro hotspot The Candy Store.

Apparently, a limited number of their wicked good cupcakes will now be available weekends this lovely specialty store.

More often than any other Google search, “Ottawa” + “cupcake” draws curious readers to girlaboutotown.com. While not exactly scientific market research, I think this steady stream of cupcake seekers is pretty sound evidence of unmet demand and unlimited potential.

The Candy Store, with its delectable decor and delicious assortment of delights, is a great addition to Ottawa’s boutique scene. By adding a weekend measure of cupcake pleasure to this mix, these three ladies may well have hit upon a winning recipe for satisfying success.

I’m already planning my trip westward for cupcakes. No doubt I’ll come across some candy too…
