The Mayfair Theatre lives on…

Good news! Ottawa City Council has designated The Mayfair Theatre as a ‘property of cultural heritage value’ under the Ontario Heritage Act.  This means that it can’t be torn down or altered without permission from the City Council (who would be crazy to give it)!

An Ottawa South landmark, the Mayfair has been supplying fun and entertainment to area cinema lovers since 1932.

Supply or Demand?

I never thought I would start blogging right here - but then again - why not?

I went out Friday with the “girls” to opening night of the much anticipated movie Sex and The City.  Wow!

I have often wondered whether Ottawa’s reputation for being less than cool was a problem of supply or demand.  I’m no expert, but I grasp the concept, and I think it applies.  Do we not have enough people here who are interested in style or is there just nowhere to find it?

Anyway, if Friday night was any indication, the mystery has been solved.  It is surely an issue of supply, as the demand is clearly evident!  It seemed like every fashionable woman from 18 to 50 was out.  And not just out - but decked out!  I’ve never seen so many high heels and flashy handbags in one place here in Ottawa, or so many women dressed well for an occasion.  There was a strut in every step, a sparkle in every eye and the energy in the room was electric. These ladies obviously felt great having made the effort, and exuded sexy confidence.

With the right excuse - even one as simple as a movie opening - it is plain to see that Ottawa women can most definitely supply style!

If you haven’t seen the movie yet….then suit up and make it a great night out!
